Anne Basham, CEO of Ascend Consulting DC, has been named one of the National Institute for Lobbying & Ethics' (NILE) 2026 Top Lobbyists. This is the second year in a row she has received the honor.
NILE announced the 2026 honorees today. The list recognizes 100 lobbying, PAC, and grassroots advocacy professionals for their achievements, leadership, and contributions to the profession.
The recognition is highly selective. There are more than 50,000 state and federal lobbyists nationwide, and NILE received a record number of nominations this year, more than 500. Nominations were supported by letters of recommendation from colleagues, clients, Members of Congress, senior government officials, and former Cabinet secretaries. Honorees are chosen through a blind peer-review process that evaluates advocacy success, innovation, integrity, and commitment to the profession and the communities it serves.
This year's awards also mark NILE's 10th anniversary. The organization works to elevate the lobbying profession, promote ethical practice, and strengthen public understanding of the role advocates play in representative government.
Being named for two consecutive years reflects the consistency of Anne's work on behalf of Ascend's clients. Under her leadership, Ascend Consulting DC helps mission-driven organizations navigate Congress, federal agencies, and state legislatures.
